About SHIFT

The Dream: Establishing a Center -- centrally located -- for resources and activities related to the study and application of Bowen Family Systems Theory (BFST). The central aspect of SHIFT is its open-door policy to any person interested in thinking, sharing, studying, and contributing. SHIFT strives to make BFST accessible and comprehensible to everyone.

About Us

Dori Moore and Jan Davis co-founded SHIFT  in 2014.

Dori Moore, LSCSW, LCSW, ACSW, is the visionary who dreamed the dream. She has more than 30 years of experience in clinical social work, with over 20 of those
years in private practice.

Dori has studied Bowen Family Systems Theory (BFST) since 1979 and specializes in work with individuals, couples, and families.

She utilizes a family systems perspective, a unique therapy process that helps people to see how they impact and are impacted by their own family system before looking at the part they play currently in the families and groups that they value emotionally.

Janet "Jan" G. Davis, MA (1946-2016) was a skilled organizational systems consultant, coach, and process facilitator for more than 30 years.

Before starting her consulting practice, Jan was senior manager of human resources for commercial and public broadcasting stations in Boston, Mass., and New York, N.Y. She also was an affiliate with FWI/The International Multicultural Institute (iMCI) in Brooklyn, N.Y.

In 2002, Jan completed a two-year training program in BFST at the Princeton Family Center for Education. She worked with leaders and staff in the public and private sectors using Bowen theory.

Jan died on Nov. 8, 2016. But her commitment to SHIFT lives on in her dear friend and Center co-founder Dori Moore.
